Our people
Vanessa (née Summer) and Kevin founded GardensbySummer to reconnect to their love of nature and gardening.
Kevin spent years working on organic farms around the world and founded and managed multiple CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) ventures in North Carolina. He is a certified Permaculture Designer and graduate of the PLANT at BREEZE farmer incubator program. Kevin specializes in landscape design and organic farming practices.
Vanessa has had a strong connection to the natural world, going back to her childhood on her Grandmother’s farm in Trinidad. She draws from a lifetime of gardening and specializes in ecology, biological pest control, organic gardening, perennial and annual ornamentals.

Grounded in the understanding that we are connected to nature, not separate from it, we create edible and ornamental gardens that foster a harmonious relationship with the Earth, nurturing beauty, health, resilience, and ecological balance.
